About Me

I was born in 1975 in Istanbul, Turkey. I had my major in International Relations. I am married and have two children – a boy and a girl. I live in Istanbul. My friends call me “Nesli” – a shortened version of my name. I am keen on traveling, reading foreign magazines, watching quality movies, reading books especially the autobiographies of the people I like, learning foreign languages and learning about different cultures. I have always been interested in what is happening in the world more than what is happening in my country only. After working for more than fifteen years, I decided to quit the white collar business world.

Opening this website is a real challenge for me for I am not very familiar to the use of technology and I am not active at the social media at all. As I also stated in the Preface, I opened this web site to share the things that are pleasant for me. The places I have traveled to or read about or plan to travel to, books, films, people and many other things… In doing this I aim to create an archive for myself, but what is more is that I aim to create a medium where the readers of my site would share their experiences and comments about my posts. My pleasant things would then be even more pleasant with different comments and the inputs of those who experience them and hopefully the readers of this web-site all over the world would enjoy and benefit from them.

You can comment on my posts from ‘Leave a Reply – Comment‘ option under each post or you can send me an e-mail at ‘mypleasantthings@gmail.com‘.

Finally, I would like to state that my first post date is 02.02.2020 which is also the opening date of my web-site. As a coincidence which has pleased me, this date is said to be a palindrome date. Palindrome is defined as ‘a word, phrase or sequence that reads the same backward as forward’. Palindrome dates are rare and I hope this is a good sign for my web site.
