Since I watched the movie ‘I dreamed of Africa’, Africa has driven my interest and it has been one of my dreams to visit Africa. In this movie (released in 2000) which is based on the best-seller memoir of Kuki Gallmann (published in 1991) and directed by Hugh Hudson, an Italian socialite -characterized by Kim Basinger- abandons her jet-set lifestyle for the rewards of rural Kenya.
I was deeply affected by the story of the film and its scenes and was also enchanted by the views of Africa and the beauty of the African nature.
I especially remember the scene where Kim Basinger was sleeping in a tent with her children one night and heard the voices arising from an elephant herd marching toward the tent. It was a very good scene in the sense that it was emphasizing what it meant to survive in the African nature.
I read many travel articles about Africa since then and was especially charmed by a photo I saw in a travel magazine that looked like the ones below. From my search in the net, I found out that the photos were taken in Hotel ‘Giraffe Manor’ in Nairobi, Kenya.
I will continue writing about and sharing the information I collect about Africa in my site from time to time.
